DuBois Volunteer Fire Department boasts an extensive fire training ground with a brick and mortar high rise building as well as two state-of-the-art training simulators installed in 2022. The two simulators provide Class A and Class B live fire training.
The Class A fire simulator consists of two stacked containers in which OSB boards can be burnt. Each container differs slightly in layout and achievable environments. Both containers have a series of doors, dampeners, and vents to allow trainers to better control and simulate fire evolution for the trainees.
The Class B fire simulator is a single, self-contained unit that utilizes propane and a series of burners to provide additional fire suppression training. A burn manager can provide near instant simulated fire environments to trainees.
