About our Mayor

Since 2010, Gary Gilbert has served the citizens of DuBois as City Mayor.  Mayor Gilbert prides himself on his work ethic, experience, and dedication to the growth and wellbeing of the City of DuBois.

Mayor Gilbert graduated from the DuBois Area High School in 1960, and has been a lifelong resident of this area.  The most important goal by the Mayor is to “help improve our great City and neighboring municipalities for future generations so they will be proud to call DuBois their home.”

The Mayor embodies the blue-collar pride and work ethic that is the foundation of this historic City.  Mr. Gilbert retired from the Pennsylvania Electric Company with 34 ½ years of service experience.   He began his career as a Janitor in 1967 and worked his way up through the ranks to Apprentice Lineman Training, Journeyman, Lineman, and Serviceman and ended the last nine years of his career as Line Foreman in DuBois.

As a public servant to the City, he has served on City Council during three terms and stepped in to finish the former Mayor, John Suplizio’s, final two years of his Mayorship.

Mayor Gilbert has been an active member of the J. E. DuBois Hose Co. #3 since 1961 and over the years held many positions in line offices and in-house office.

Whether you’re a lifelong resident, newly moved here or just a visitor, he hopes that you enjoy this great town and everything that DuBois has to offer.  Feel free to write a message, suggestion or question to him here.
